Heidar Helguson, born on August 22, 1977 in Akureyri, Iceland, made his debut for the national team in a friendly match against Malta in April 1999. He has earned 40 caps and has scored 6 goals for Iceland in his international career so far.

Heidar Helguson began his soccer career with the Icelandic club Próttur R and then moved to the Norwegian club, Lillestrøm Sportsklubb in 1998. His 16 goals in the league the following season earned him great popularity and a fan club. In January 2000 Heidar Helguson was signed by the Watford Football Club for £1.5million.


Heidar Helguson was in great form in the 2002-03 season, where he scored 11 goals in the English League Championship. Later that year, he also participated in the Football Association Challenge (FA) Cup, scoring two crucial goals.


Heidar Helguson put up a career-best performance in the 2004-05 season of the English League Championship, scoring 16 goals, and went on to win an array of awards including, ‘Goal of the Season’ , ‘Player of the Season’ and ‘Display of the Season’ award at the End of Season Awards ceremony. Heidar Helguson also grabbed the attention of top Premier League clubs with his stellar performance.


Heidar Helguson was signed by Fulham Football Club, a team based in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham for the 2005-06 season of the English Premier League. He scored 8 goals for the team in his first season with it. In the following season he went on to score another 14 goals at the Premier League for Fulham taking his career record to an all time high.


Heidar Helguson is currently representing the Bolton Football club at the 2007-08 Premier League. He is one among the talented soccer players to watch out for in the coming season.
